Craig Construction Services Ltd is delivering the full conversion, extension, and refurbishment of the former Debenhams department store in Worthing. The project will transform three-storey Art Deco building into a five-storey, 80 high-specification apartments, complemented by ground-floor commercial units.
Located in the heart of Worthing’s town centre with views over the pier, the scheme includes the retention and restoration of key architectural features to preserve the building’s character. New elements such as a rooftop Sky Lounge, flexible workspace suite, and potential gym facilities are being incorporated to enhance the offer for residents.
Key challenges include complex town centre logistics, structural alterations to the existing frame, and careful heritage conservation. A phased approach, early engagement with stakeholders, and sensitive planning have been crucial to progressing the works efficiently and respectfully.
