Debenhams
The Debenhams project demonstrates our ability to deliver large, technically demanding developments, combining refurbishment and new build works, and bringing underutilised buildings back into use as high quality, viable assets.
The former Debenhams building in Worthing is a large scale conversion and extension project, transforming a vacant department store into a high quality residential led development comprising 83 apartments and 3 commercial units, along with dedicated resident amenity spaces.
The works involve a significant reconfiguration of the existing structure alongside new build elements, including a rooftop extension. Delivering a scheme of this scale within an existing building requires careful planning, coordination and sequencing, particularly within a constrained town centre location.
As a Higher Risk Building, the project is subject to strict regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on compliance, fire safety and maintaining a clear and auditable golden thread of information throughout the build process. These requirements sit alongside the need to manage programme, quality and cost across a complex, multi phased scheme.
